End of the Year Shuffle

I know that this is the time of the year that leads us to too many things to do.  It seems like every night there is something different going on.  It's crazy. First, I think that our athletics teams deserve so much credit for going so far in the state playoffs and still focusing on academics. We are so lucky and blessed to have so many talented teachers, players, and coaches.  And yet, the summer still calls us. As the year winds down, we have so many things that need to be done.  Of particular attention to me is collection, which I thank you all in advance for.  So many people signed up to work collection that it is humbling that you are willing to help me out when needed.  This year is also very bittersweet for me.  I've had a number of people ask me how I feel about the role transition between the Help Desk to Instructional Coach.  And to be honest, I know that this change is huge, but it hasn't really hit me the transition is going to b...

The Never Ending To-Do List

Do you find it difficult to find time to reflect on your instructional practices?  I find that the hardest part of my job is finding the time to do just that.  This is why I started this blog in the first place, but it seems that the reflection is always being bumped down on my priority list.  It's how I ended up missing a week with this reflection. I did talk briefly during the data meeting about how this website is just a soft opening.  So there's that. Well... What I wanted to post last week was this tool -- AndthenIwaslike.co .  This is a website makes gifs.  Think about this as a way to engage your kids at the end of a lesson to get them to make a gif about what they learned, what they felt about the lesson, or pretty much anything else.  Take a gif and send it to me when you're ready to share!

Progress is Coming

I've finally been able to take a look at building this website that I've been talking about for the last year and I think I've gotten a good framework.  This website is designed to be the one-stop shop of everything you need to build your curriculum.  There are just so many footprints out there with the resources that we offer that I felt like it's about time for everything to go into one place.  That's the goal anyway. I want to be able to have a catalog of PD that is available both online and in person.  I think a lot of the problem with PD for our teachers is that it is assigned to them and not freely sought out.  So whenever I get a newsletter via email or something like that, I'm going to start posting them under PD opportunities.  I don't know how I'm going to do that, but that's the game plan. The other thing that I'm looking to add to this website is a Top 5 Resources for each department.  A lot of the digital resource guidance we pro...

Curiousity Should Be Rewarded

First Post! This website is something I'm working on... and I haven't even done a full launch of it.  It's going to be up and live for the 2019-2020 School Year.  But look at you... you clicked the link in my signature and went exploring on your own.  You should win a prize.  Just email me and tell me my middle name is Joshua, and I'll bring you something nice.  Your curiosity should be rewarded!
